Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is Mad Fur It? – Is it a convention?

A: Mad Fur It is a one day furry social event with a festival feel based in Manchester in the UK. Think of us somewhere between a furmeet and one day convention with a relaxed dresscode, all day. You can find out more on our Attending page.

Q: How old do I have to be to attend?

A: Mad Fur It is an 18+ only event. Our Code of Conduct details more about which ID documents we accept, but remember: NO ID, NO ENTRY.

Q: How is Mad Fur It funded?

A: We are self-funded and run entirely by volunteers. Your registrations pay for the rest, such as operating expenses, equipment to either buy or hire and contractors’ wages. We have arrangements with performers to make sure they are adequately compensated for their work.

Q: You mentioned relaxed dresscode before?

A: Yes, please see our Code Of Conduct which includes more information on this.

Q: What happens if you make more money than you spend?

A: We are a LTD company and we will publish our accounts as required by UK law. If we make any excess funds, this will go straight back in to the event. Nobody takes a salary from Mad Fur It.

Q: What are your registration prices?

A: Ooh, excellent. We’re glad you’re interested. You can find this information on our attending page.

Q: Where can I find out more about your venue? – Are there any hotels nearby?

A: Please see our attending page which has all the info you need.

Q: Do I need to register in advance?

A: Yes. Our registration process is similar to how conventions operate, in that attendees are vetted and approved before payment. You cannot turn up on the day without a ticket.

Q: How does your registration process work?

A: Once registration is open, you can register with us to attend. You will then receive an email to confirm your pending registration. Once approved, we will then send you another email inviting you to log in and pay for your registration, after which you have 7 days to complete the transaction.

Q: When can I register?

A: November. We’ll give you plenty of notice, don’t worry.

Q: What if I have any questions about registration or I think I made a mistake with my details?

A: Don’t panic. Please email our friendly registration folks on: reg @ madfurit.org.uk and we’ll do right by you.

Q: Are there any important bits of information I need to know before I register?

A: Yes. Please see our Privacy Policy, Code Of Conduct and Attending pages.

Q: A ferret?

A: I mean, just look at him, he’s adorable! – “Learn” more here.

Q: Where does the name come from?

A: Literally a play on words for “Mad For It” – A Mancunian expression to say someone’s really excited for something.

Q: How long has your event existed for?

A: As an idea since early 2026, our first event is in May 2027.

Q: Why should we trust you, you’re new?

A: Fair point, but our team, amongst other things, have been running events across the country for over 20 years – from running meets to founding conventions (not to mention our day jobs), so we like to think we know a thing or two.

Q: What if I have a query that’s not answered here?

A: Please read the attending and code of conduct page just to make sure it’s not covered there. You can email us otherwise at hello @ madfurit.org.uk

Q: Will there be dragons at the event?

A: Perhaps.

Q: What sort of events will you have?

A: All will be revealed in due course, you could consult the crystal ball or look at the tea leaves in your cup… or check our events page.

Q: Can I apply to run an event or DJ?

A: Yes, we will be opening up our applications process in December and we will announce this here on our website, Bluesky and Telegram.

Q: Will there be goodies to purchase?

A: Yes, our marketplace will have a wonderful collection of sellers! If you’d like to apply for a table, the fee for this will be £25 in addition to your base registration, with the option to add this to your booking when registering for the event. Please be aware that tables are limited and we reserve the right to accept or reject applicants. No fee for the table will be requested if you are not selected.
